Kesha The Only Love Tour Review

Kesha The Only Love Tour Review

November 1st I was sitting in class composing a list of ideas to see live music for my assignment

when I google concerts near me. I look on ticketmaster, despite the love hate relationship I have with it,

and see Kesha The Only Love tour. Me being basically raised by Kesha, looked into it only to see

“KESHA IN BOSTON NOVEMBER 1ST AT 8PM.”

I immediately texted my friends on the cheer team, Bella and

Zerek, to see if they would go with me because I knew that I could

not pass this up. After a group of us agreed to go together, I

bought the tickets, listed at $88, from my computer in class.

After being let out of class around 5:15pm I quickly rushed home in excitement to get ready for the night. I throw on my going out, staple leather pants and black going out top. Throw together a quick straight slick back ponytail, put on my dirty white going out air forces, and head out the door around 7:15. Throughout the (what was supposed to be a 22 minute) drive to MGM at Fenway, my boyfriend had taken a few wrong turns on the way, but that’s what happens when you put me in charge of directions. I finally arrive and get dropped off around 7:53 to meet Bella and Zerek.

In the freezing cold Boston weather, I walk to the security line with my skimpy black top and no jacket, Kesha would be proud. I finally got through to my friend Bella, and we pushed through the crowd to meet up with Zerek who was waiting for us in the middle of the pit on the floor. Perks of being tall amirite? Being in the room immediately brought me back to 2010. Everyone dressed with cut up t-shirts, dark glittery eye makeup, and body glitter. I felt underdressed or even like I was in the wrong era. I thought it was cool that everyone understood the assignment though.

While on the pit, we had a few interesting encounters with other fans. One of the fans kept leaning and banging her head on Zerek because she couldn’t stand up straight (see photo of us recreating). She then proceeded to call us “fucking losers” and yell out, “I’ve never met a Kesha fan that wouldn’t let someone party.” After other fans started to take notice, we ended up calling security because we didn’t think she could make it through the concert. Another lady was mad that we were taller and blocking her view, so she kept purposefully leaning on me like I was a wall (see other photo of us recreating). I eventually ended up bending over and saying something along the lines of  “I understand that it’s crowded and there's not a lot of space but there is no need to lean on me like that. I am not a wall.” She rolled her eyes and stood up straight, as she should.

Kesha came on around 9:15 performing the song, “Only Love Can Save Us Now.” But it wasn't until her next song “Tik Tok” that the entire crowd went ballistic. Flashing lights, everyone jumping and dancing carelessly, feeling the nostalgia that brings me back to a time of no stress, truly just let me enjoy the night. She sang songs that have recently been blowing up on TikTok such as Cannibal, Backstabber and Raising Hell which made it nearly impossible for anyone to not know the words, making it even more enjoyable for everyone. Before the next song “Take it off,” Kesha tells everyone to take off their underwear. A swarm of thongs and DDD size bras get thrown onto the stage in a matter of seconds. Any teenage boys’ dream. This is when Kesha picks one up and says “should I smell it?” And gets the crowd laughing as she smells them and throws them back into the crowd.

Her outfit changes and choices were flawless as she changed about 4 times in between certain songs. She did it so effortlessly that you couldn’t even tell that's why she was off stage for under 20 seconds. Not only that, she had 2 main dancers who were next to her performing the entire time. They ate up every single dance that they did and also had the crowd's attention while doing so.  There were different songs where they had dressed up according to theme, for example, “Timber,” both of them were dressed up. One as a cowboy and one as a horse, chasing each other around the stage.

Before she performed “Blow,” she announced that it was the last song of the night and everyone started booing in hopes for more. That was when she signaled quotes using her hands basically saying there would be more. During “Blow,” the lights were going crazy, people were throwing glitter everywhere (pretty sure I inhaled and swallowed some), and there were giant beach balls and balloons being thrown around like the whole crowd was all in on a don’t let it hit the floor game.

After “Blow,” was when she came out for an encore. She started playing “Praying” where everyone in the whole venue was singing the same way they do when in the car alone. It just felt so surreal with high emotions. Then, she started playing “We R Who We R” with the intended message that everyone deserves to be loved and accepted for who they are. That’s when a group of Drag Queens rush the stage and start dancing and just having fun with the crowd. They were dressed so stunning and full of power and their display of confidence was inspiring.

Overall my experience at Kesha's concert was a night to never forget. Between her music, vocals, set up, dances, and overall performance, it was such a blast.  I definitely made my third grade self happy by seeing her live.
